The Canary Islands are often thought to be somewhat interchangeable to visitors, with one island being decidedly like the next. While that might be true for the typically tourist areas of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the same cannot be said for the rest of these islands and their neighbours. Ask any local and they will happily and efficiently describe the differences between each of the archipelago’s islands by landscape, inhabitants and customs.
Recently, seven artists from different countries were commissioned to spend five days drawing their representations of a designated island. Along with a local host, they documented their “physical and emotional journey through the natural and human landscape” in notebooks, before recreating their visions into beautiful artworks for #OnTheDraw.
